CSA—Compliance, Safety, Accountability—is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative designed to ensure safe trucking. It was introduced in 2010, implementing new enforcement, compliance standards and interventions to address safety issues before they turn into serious problems for large carriers. A nationwide leader in dedicated fleet, dry bulk and dry van services, CCC Transportation consistently ranks among the 98th percentile on CSA metrics.
CSA categories for safe trucking include unsafe driving, service hours, vehicle maintenance, and controlled substances. Unsafe driving is defined by the FMCSA as follows: “Operation of commercial motor vehicles by drivers in a dangerous or careless manner. Example violations: Speeding, reckless driving, improper lane change, and inattention.”
CCC Transportation scored at the top of the list with only 0.2% in unsafe driving. Compare that to the next best score of 8%! Huge freight lines such as CR England, Marten and Western Express, on the other hand, had unsafe driving scores above 75%! Safe driving is imperative for goods to reach their destinations safely, and CCC is obviously a leader in this department.
CCC scores in service hours and vehicle maintenance were also competitive, but what about controlled substances? FMCSA categorizes the controlled substance area as follows: “Operation of CMVs by drivers who are impaired due to alcohol, illegal drugs, and misuse of prescription or over-the-counter medications. Example violations: Use or possession of controlled substances/alcohol.”
Do CCC drivers have a record of using controlled substances? No. There were zero instances of CCC drivers using controlled substances in CSA reports. This finding also ensures that goods are delivered safely and timely. Compare these stats to other carries such as Swift, Knight, and FFE, which scored above 40% for controlled substances.
Safety may be a buzz word in the trucking industry, but it’s a word that is often used without discrimination or proof of actual safety. At CCC, safety is both a driving culture and a passionate company commitment. With anti-collision rollover prevention devices and outstanding CSA scores, you can trust CCC to continue to value and practice safe trucking.
